Marbella for health

The number of travellers from the Gulf to Europe is expected to significantly increase, particularly in the medical and wellness sector, an industry expert has revealed.

High net worth travellers from the Middle East are actively travelling into Europe for health and well-being reasons – a market that is rapidly growing and is currently valued at over $3.4 trillion, noted Nicki Page, founder of Pageoneworld – a specialist in high-end hospitality, travel, wellbeing and tourism.

"Spain and Marbella are set to attract an increased share of global business, particularly from the Gulf,” said Page.

Spain is currently number seven in the world for private health care.

The wellness industry accounts for 5.1 per cent of global economic output with wellness expenditure being half as large as global health expenditure. A total of 691 million wellness tourism trips were made in 2015, an increase of 100 million compared to the year before.
