A new attraction was launched in Ajman last month with the inaugural Seaplane flight that landed at Al Zorah Marina 1, Ajman. Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, chairman of Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD), and Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, director general of ATDD were in attendance, as were senior officials from Seawings and Al Zohra.

Ajman will now offer regular flights on the Cessna 208 Caravan Seaplanes over sights including the Al Zorah Mangrove Reserve and Marina, and Ajman’s city centre.

Al Geziry said, “Our aim is to ensure Ajman is among the most attractive holiday destinations in the region, offering a variety of options for the discerning traveller and local residents. These Seaplane tours add to our growing portfolio of high quality tourist excursions and we look forward to the creative packaging of different attractions giving our customers the best experiences possible.”

He continued, “We are looking at different pillars of tourism. Tourists are increasingly interested in adventure-based activities and we are providing products and services in that segment to please our clients. We also had a golfing tournament in October last year and we are planning to expand on that this year.

“Ajman Pearl is a new experience launched in the mangrove area, which will include a look into the pearl-diving heritage of the region and participants will get oysters, which may or may not have pearls in them.”

WATERSPORTS

Earlier this year, Al Zorah, a lifestyle and leisure destination in Ajman, expanded its portfolio of sporting activities to offer ultimate thrilling watersports experiences. Al Zorah will host several motorised and non-motorised sports including jet-skiing, wake boarding, flyboarding, kayaking, paddle boating, water skiing, kite-boarding and much more.

Imad Dana, chief executive officer of Al Zorah Development Company, said: “The introduction of the leisure and recreational activities at Al Zorah further reinforces our objective to offer a distinctive tourist and lifestyle destination. Watersport enthusiasts and families looking for an exciting vacation and an intuitive experience can escape the bustle of city-life and create unforgettable memories at Al Zorah.”

He further added: “Our highly reputed operators – Adventure Leisure Tourism and Quest for Adventure – will ensure our guests receive the highest quality of service and have them experience the best watersports and rides, as they enjoy the magnificent views of the mangroves, the golf course, and waterfront.”

 ECO-TOURISM IN AJMAN

Besides the exhilarating water sporting activities at Al Zorah, the Kayak Tours conducted by ‘Quest for Adventure’, an adventure sports company, offers visitors an opportunity to explore one of the region’s most prized natural mangroves, officially declared as a Wetland of International Importance by the Ramsar Convention.

The destination will soon host special events like Stand-Up Paddle Boating Championships, Best Underwater Photo Competition and Jet-skiing Acrobatic Displays. Furthermore, Marina 1 at Al Zorah, constructed along the creek is near completion and will unveil berthing facilities for yachts, over 17 food and beverage outlets and additional entertainment activities including seaplane tours and abra rides.
