Emirates sweetens Diwali with treats

Etihad pioneers payment innovation

ETIHAD Airways has become the first airline in the region to offer fully automated credit card instalment payment plans. Passengers flying Etihad Airways and who book directly via Etihad.com get the benefit of the automated service with repayment options from three to 60 months. Seventeen of the region’s leading banks are taking part in the programme. With over 20 payment methods available on its website, Etihad Airways offers diverse payment solutions to meet both global and local needs.

The payment options are aimed to assist low to medium income travellers and families by empowering them with the ability to book travel without the burden of having to pay for it up front.

 

SalamAir debuts Dubai flights

OMAN’S first budget airline, SalamAir has started operating daily flights between the Sultanate’s capital and Dubai International Airport (DXB).  The new route will complement SalamAir’s current flight to Al Maktoum International Airport until October 28 when the airline has set plans to re-route all flights to DXB. SalamAir will be operating daily morning and evening services to and from Terminal 2 with the first flight departing DXB at 10:50 and returning at 17:30.

SalamAir has been working closely with the Ministry of Tourism in Oman to create memorable experiences for guests traveling to the Sultanate. Salem Al Mamari, director general of Tourism Promotion, Oman Ministry of Tourism commented, “For numerous world travellers, Oman remains an untouched gem, offering a wide spectrum of activities ranging from family holidays, romantic getaways, unique adventures to eco-travel opportunities and cultural journeys. We will continue to focus on maintaining the momentum gained by the inflow of tourists through our airline partners and we are excited to be joining hands with SalamAir who will provide an alternative budget travel option to people in United Arab Emirates to visit Oman and enjoy what our country has to offer.” 

 

DDF wins Airport Retailer of the Year

DUBAI Duty Free (DDF) walked away with a key award when it was named “Airport Retailer of the Year in Single Location” for a remarkable eighth time at the prestigious Frontier Awards in Cannes, France. Held to coincide with the annual Tax Free World Association (TFWA) exhibition, the Frontier Awards, which marked its 33rd year, are hailed as the ‘Oscars’ of the industry while the ‘Airport Retailer of the Year’ is one of the most coveted awards of all.

Present in Cannes to collect the award, Colm McLoughlin, executive vice chairman and CEO of Dubai Duty Free said, “There is a lot of competition in this category and I would like to thank the organisers and the judges for their support. I join our chairman His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum in dedicating this Frontier award to each and every member of the Dubai Duty Free team.”

Dubai Duty Free’s continuing sales growth, which is expected to reach $1.88 billion this year, its ongoing expansion of its retail offer and its brand partnerships with key suppliers, were some of the key points noted by the judges before awarding the ‘Airport Retailer of the Year – Single Location’ to the operation. Dubai Duty Free won its first ‘Airport Retailer of the Year’ award in 1985 – at the first Frontier Awards ceremony.

 

Emirates sweetens Diwali with treats

EMIRATES delighted its customers by offering special Diwali delicacies for the celebratory season. The special treats were available for customers across all classes during the week of Diwali celebrations on all on flights to India from Dubai.

Diwali, the festival of lights, is a significant celebration among Indians across the world, and food plays an equally vital role in the festivities. The classic sweets associated with Diwali are blended with colours and flavours with traditional Indian culinary elements, like the nostalgic ‘Besan ke Ladoo’ and dry fruit ‘Burfi’. The special Diwali sweets were offered on all Indian hot meal trays on Emirates Economy class.
