As the first cargo vessel docks into Fujairah Port, we talk to the hotel manager of Nour Arjaan by Rotana, which is poised to benefit from the steady growth of the emirate.

Here is a short excerpt from our conversation with Ghyath Fawaz, hotel manager, Nour Arjaan by Rotana Fujairah.

How is the Fujairah market responding to new properties opening up?

Fujairah enjoys a unique position on the Gulf of Oman, and considered to be the gateway to the Indian Ocean; it is also renowned for its scenic beauty and high mountains coupled with valleys and long coast.

Under the leadership of Sheikh Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown prince of Fujairah, the government of Fujairah has initiated the development of a strategic Framework Plan Fujairah 2040 to meet the demand of the future growth with many developments plans for urban, rural, infrastructure, environment and cultural heritage projects.

What markets/demographics are you focusing on and how do you plan to have a great rest of the year?

We are focusing our efforts on the local market and GCC market as it represents almost 70 per cent of our market and business mix. We will remain focused on our priorities by owning our business and try our best level to respond to the market needs by enhancing guest experience and hotel facilities and adopt changes quickly.

Will the hotel benefit from the Logistics City when it is ready?

For sure we will benefit from this significant project as it will have great impact on tourism and travel demand to Fujairah and will drive international smart city investors and open their appetite to invest, it will also increase the turnover for air cargo and other transportation sector in the city.

Have been any developments at the hotel?

Currently, we are working on developing a new concept to enhance our F&B offering and attract new guests. We would like to target all markets as well as encourage local neighbourhood interest and enhance our revenue. We also have plans to create a ball room for up to 100 guests, a new swimming pool with water park facilities to enhance the family experience; and a plan to expand the all-day dining Murjan restaurant. We are replacing the carpets in the guest rooms and renovating furniture as well, aside from the ongoing and nonstop maintenance.
