Dana Gas, the Middle East's first private-sector gas firm, said it would adhere to Shariah principles and conduct all treasury management, fund investment, and accounting activities in accordance with Islamic jurisprudence.
Dana Gas executive chairman Hamid Dhiya Jafar said the decision was made in order to respect the wishes of the firm's investors.
He said it was in response to queries from important financial institutions and investors in the region.
The company is reviewing proposals from regional and global Islamic banks and Shariah-compliant financial institutions in order to implement the new policy.
