BAHRAIN’S Tamkeen, together with Kempinski and Third Wave International (TWI), has embarked on an innovative initiative for the country’s hospitality sector, which seeks to empower young Bahrainis with world- class training and provide them with employment at a globally reputed establishment.
Tamkeen is an initiative funded by the private sector for the private sector, tasked with developing Bahrain’s private sector and positioning it as the key driver of economic development. Established in August 2006, Tamkeen is one of the cornerstones of Bahrain’s national reform initiatives and Bahrain Economic Vision.
The institutions providing training to successful candidates shall include William Angliss – an institute ranked among the top five hotel management schools in the world – from which candidates shall receive a certificate at the conclusion of the training.
Upon the successful completion of training, the chosen candidates shall become members of the Kempinski team. Tamkeen’s acting vice-president for Human Capital Development Amal Al Kooheji, says, “This tripartite initiative represents a unique public-private partnership to develop fully fledged Bahraini hospitality-sector professionals, while simultaneously enhancing the sustainability of the hospitality sector by boosting Bahranisation figures.”
Puneet Singh, general manager, Kempinski Grand & Ixir Hotel Bahrain City Centre, states: “For young Bahrainis interested in hospitality there is no better stepping stone than this programme to begin their career as hoteliers. We look forward to welcoming the first candidates into the programme.”
