ORANGE County Resorts and Hotels offers luxurious getaways that celebrate the ‘spirit of the land’ in two of India’s most idyllic countryside destinations, Coorg and Kabini, in the southern state of Karnataka.
Orange Country, Coorg, opened by the Ramapuram family in 1994, is aimed at the discerning traveller looking for exclusive holistic getaways out of the city.
The name Orange County was chosen in memory of the fragrance and flavour of loose-jacketed mandarin oranges which once grew in abundance on the land.
The resort is situated amidst 300 acres of coffee and spice plantations, flanked on one side by the Dubare Reserve Forest and the Cauvery river on the other. The resort also has a state-of-the-art ayurvedic spa, Vaidyasala, and exclusive private pool villas, all inspired by the ethnic Kodava architecture.
The Lily Pool villas feature a tranquil lily pond as the singular motif and theme and is specially created to give guests the utmost relaxation in a serene plantation.
The resort at Kabini is inspired by the Kadukuruba hadis (local tribes) and its architecture is designed to offer guests a chance to experience wildlife “the tribal way”. The resort has an Interpretation Centre which captures the bountiful spirit and history of Kabini and includes museum showcasing the natural history of this region, a butterfly sanctuary, a lily pond and a hut showcasing the local tribal’s lifestyle.
Orange County Resorts and Hotels is committed to responsible tourism through which it seeks to enhance the economic, social and environmental well-being of the host community, apart from incentivising the retention and regeneration of their unique culture.
