
JUST over a year since its opening, Bahrain’s Dragon Hotel at Amwaj Islands is making its presence felt with above average occupancies.
General manager JACK MORAIS told TTN what’s on offer and how business has been.
How long has the hotel been open and how has business been during that period?
The Dragon was launched in June 2009 and we currently have an average occupancy of 78 per cent and an average daily rate of BD89 ($236) per night.
How many rooms, suites etc does the dragon have?
At the Dragon we have 30 sea view suites and five beach front villas.
I understand you have some triplex facilities, can you tell me about these?
The Sea View Chalet is a three-level chalet overlooking the infinity pool and the sea with veranda, kitchen, maid’s/driver’s accommodation, laundry room, living loung, work station area and three master suites with king-size beds. Rates start at BD220++ ($583++).
The Sea Front Chalets are also over three levels with a private veranda and six-person Jacuzzi overlooking the sea. They have kitchen, maid’s/driver’s quarters, laundry room, living lounge, work station, three or four master suites and a family lounge. Rates start from BD240++ ($636++).
The three-level Beach Villa has a private swimming pool and poolside lounge overlooking the sea. Inside there is a kitchen with dining area, maid’s/driver’s quarters, laundry room, living lounge, two master suites with king-size beds and two guest suites with family lounge area and pantry. Rates start at BD750++ ($1,989++).
What are the hotel’s other facilities, is everything now fully open?
We have an infinity pool and kids’ pool, restaurant lounge, private beach, personal chef service, 24-hour in-room dining, airport and city transfers, complimentary DVD library and much more.
What are your main markets are you primarily leisure or business or a mix of both?
Predominantly we deal with the Arab travellers from the GCC region. In terms of market we do 60 per cent leisure and 40 per cent business.
Do you have any current or coming rooms promotions that travel agent readers would be interested in?
We have special promos such as pay three nights and stay four and pay five and stay seven nights.
