Al Zadjali...promoting Oman

OMAN’S Ministry of Tourism participated at the Business Travel Show Middle East 2010 and revealed that it will take advantage of the show’s networking potential to reinforce the growing reputation of Oman as a world-class venue for business meetings, events, conferences and other business-related activities.

Khaled Al Zadjali, acting director of tourism events, Oman Ministry of Tourism, said: “Oman is fast-emerging as a leading business tourism destination in line with our investments in various hospitality projects and the state-of-the-art conference centre that is being built in the country.

“The Business Travel Show Middle East provides us with the opportunity to identify new trends, explore best practices and promote Oman’s unique attractions as a business travel destination.”

Sand skiing in the desert

According to Al Zadjali, the country’s diverse options for incentive groups makes it an ideal choice for the incentive market. Oman has been recognised for its array of popular tourist activities such as different kinds of water sports, rock climbing, sand skiing in the desert, trekking, cave exploration, dolphin shows, fishing charters and camel races. The country also boasts hundreds of forts and castles which give it its unique character and age-old charm.

This year, the ministry is keen to encourage domestic tourism, with emphasis on local and regional residents. Various promotions with the hotel companies have been lined up for this purpose. The authority has also initiated a new summer promotion for its European markets to attract more European guests to Oman. “With properties like the new Swiss-Belhotel Resort Masirah Island, the Salalah Marriott Resort and the luxurious Six Senses Zighy Bay in Musandam, we are confident this will see more success,” added Al Zadjali.
